ABOUT VINTAGE TOWELS No longer simply a drying cloth, the towel has become a decorative bedroom, powder room or bath accessory. Towels in practical, textured huck linen, fine Irish linen and elegant damask complement the decor of your home. Even everyday towels become special when embellished with lace, embroidery, fringe or a monogram. Originally, the custom of providing monogrammed towels was probably for identification. Monogrammed towels have become classic. Embroidery has evolved into an art form, with elaborate initials, crests and curly-ques. Passed from generation to generation, the monogram is now valued for its workmanship and artistry. It's nice to find at least your own last initial, but many people today choose more for the look than the letter. A lighter note is added to routine household chores when kitchen towels reflect the individuality of the woman of the house. Whimsical and cheerful themes, colorful prints and embroidery have made them into decorative kitchen accessories. Many of our vintage towels come from Connecticut estates.
