27" by 43", this towel combines different forms of drawnwork lace. Lengthwise edges are machine-hemmed. The back edge is finished with a single row of pulled hemstitching. 8" of lace trims the front. The two types of lace follow the same zig-zag path, forming distinct patterns and a dramatic pointed edge.
Selected threads were pulled from the fabric to make lacy openwork. The upper pattern creates criss-crossing outlines around small fabric squares; the remaining threads form a striped pattern within the openwork; where rows join, an open square occurs. The lower pattern creates a grid of small open squares over which the pattern of roses and lattice is woven. All of the edges are finished with tiny stitches to prevent fraying and add a crisp effect.
This towel is clean and in excellent condition; brand new. |
