# C-1... 4 Antique Coasters
Handmade Hardanger Lace

Each about 5 3/4" square, these four coasters or small placemats will bring a very special touch to your special-occasion table-setting. They combine dainty drawnwork lace with bold hardanger.

The edges are finished with a single row of pulled hemstitching, criss-crossing at the corners. Double rows of drawnwork outline the center. Selected threads are removed from the fabric to create an openwork stripe. Remaining threads are pulled together into a zig-zagging pattern.

A 7/8" wide square of checkerboard lace borders the center. Closely-woven lace alternates cross and snowflake patterns.

These squares are not perfect. One has a pulled thread on the edge of one cross pattern (probably two clever stitches would repair it). Another, (left) has several small holes worn in the fabric.
